Ian Charlesworth

Ian Charlesworth is the Director of Ovum IT Research and Analysis.
In this role, Ian has responsibility for setting the strategy and direction for Ovum IT, defining the product portfolio, liaising with key clients, and developing Ovum’s best-in-class analyst team.

Ian has over a decade of experience as an IT industry analyst and has authored many reports on his areas of expertise, which include business intelligence, business process management, and integration. Ian is a frequent speaker at events, from keynote presentations at large industry events to small workshops. He also frequently engages with clients on a consulting basis to provide guidance on company and technology strategy.

Prior to assuming his current position, Ian was the practice leader for Ovum’s Software team. Previous to this he was a Principal Analyst at Ovum, having started his analyst career in 1998 at Butler Group. Before embarking on his analyst career, Ian was an SAP consultant, with expertise in porting management information systems from legacy applications to SAP.

Ian graduated from Warwick University 1996 with a BSc in Applied Physics, and holds an MSc in Management Science and Operational Research from Warwick Business School.
