Richard Mahony is the global research and analysis director for Ovum Telecoms. He is responsible for telecoms analysis, which covers services, regulation, wholesale, infrastructure, software and components in both the fixed-line and mobile markets. In addition to leading this group, he leads research and consulting efforts in areas such as enterprise managed services, commercial arbitration, pricing, and service innovation.
Richard has more than 15 years of industry experience in advising telcos, their vendors, and enterprise customers. His telco advisory experience includes strategy development, proposition assessment, and business-case development for emerging services. He has also undertaken a number of assignments helping telcos shape their next-generation network strategies and services.
He has also advised on some of Europe’s largest MNC and public-sector managed services contracts, where his roles have included sourcing strategy, commercial negotiation, supplier selection, and supplier performance analysis. It is through this work with MNCs that Richard has developed an in-depth understanding of enterprise IT and communications management.
Richard has a BA in business studies, an MA in marketing, and a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
