Saurabh Sharma

Saurabh is a Senior Analyst with Ovum IT and is a member of Ovum’s IT Solutions team. He focuses on service-oriented architecture (SOA) and integration. Saurabh’s research covers different approaches to application-to-application (A2A), B2B, and cloud service integration, including SOA and other on-premise integration platforms and solutions (such as message-oriented middleware, MFT solutions, and EDI platforms), integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) solutions, and integration outsourcing/brokerage services. He also focuses on other associated disciplines such as API management, integration architecture, and communications and business process integration.

His recent research has focused on SOA strategy, the relevance of SOA in the current operating environment, the relationship between SOA and cloud computing, the synergies between enterprise architecture and SOA, the impact of cloud on the complexity of application and B2B integration, different approaches to SaaS integration, communications-enabled business processes, and the integration vendor landscape and related business models.

Saurabh brings to the fore over six years of industry experience in software development and technology research and consulting. Prior to joining Ovum, he worked with IBM as a senior consultant and focused on driving growth for its cloud computing business. Prior to that, he worked as a consultant for a major research and advisory firm and focused on a wide range of areas, including communications service provider business strategy, telecoms software, network elements, enterprise applications, cloud computing, and IT services.

Saurabh started his career as a Software Engineer at Aricent (erstwhile Hughes Software Systems) and was engaged in the development of base transceiver station software for Nokia Siemens Networks. Saurabh completed a Bachelors of Technology (B.Tech) with honours in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, in 2006.
